Chair of the 38th Conference of Heads of Government

Prime Minister of Grenada Dr. Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell will chair the Thirty-Eighth Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), at the Radisson Grenada Beach Resort, 4 – 6 July 2017 (with an Opening Ceremony at the Grenada Trade Centre).

Prime Minister Mitchell assumes the role of Chairman of CARICOM from 1 July 2017 and his six month term ends on 31 December 2017. He takes over from the out-going Chairman, HE David Granger, President of Guyana whose six-month term ran from 1 January to 30 June 2017.

Conference of Heads of Government Meeting Summary

The Thirty-Eighth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will take place in Grenada 4 – 6 July 2017, under the Chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Grenada Dr. Rt. Hon Keith Mitchell.

Following an Opening Ceremony on 4 July at the Grenada Trade Centre, the Heads of Government will move to the Radisson Grenada Beach Resort for the business sessions on 5 -6 July.  The Conference will welcome its two newest Members; the President of Haiti H.E. Jovenel Moise who was sworn into office on 7 February, and the Prime Minister of The Bahamas Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis who took his oath of office on 11 May.

Quatar considering Sports Village and Mega Yacht Marina in Grenada

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, May 8, 2017 – GIS: Qatar, one of the most advanced Arab states, is seriously considering the construction of a sports village and mega yacht marina in Grenada.

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell made this disclosure after meeting with Qatar’s minister of finance during a recent overseas trip.

The meeting was held at the request of Qatar’s minister for finance.

Electronic Medical Records implemented in Grenada

ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, May 10, 2017 - GIS: Grenada’s health care system, on May 9, embarked upon a more reliable, readily accessible and accountable approach to medical records management. It’s called Electronic Medical Records or EMR.

Hon. Nickolas Steele, Minister for Health and Social Security says the system is implemented to cut back on costs, improve the workflow of health care providers and enhance the overall quality of care in the medical practice on island.
