Prime Minister Participates in Engagements in Miami and Paris

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, March 30, 2017 – GIS: Prime Minister Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell is in Miami, Florida today, to participate in a High Level Conference, organized by the World Bank and the Miami Herald Media Company.

The Conference, held at the Biltmore Hotel in Miami, will also feature other leaders of Government, as well as regional and international organizations, including Prime Minister of St. Lucia, Honourable Allen Chastanet, and Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, Timothy Antoine, IMF Division Chief, Trevor Alleyne, World Bank Country Director for the Caribbean, Tahseen Sayed.

Health Minister hosts Pakistan's former Health Minister

ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, MARCH 29, 2017 - GOVERNMENT INFORMATION SERVICE (GIS): - Grenada’s Minister of Health, Social Security and International Business, has described a meeting with Pakistan’s former Health Minister Dr. Sania Nishtar as very productive.

Hon. Steele met with Dr. Nishtar earlier this week in Grenada, during her visit to the island, to garner support for her election as the next Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to Steele discussions were fruitful and mainly about how Grenada can further co-operate and work with the (WHO) on challenges facing developing countries.

Grenada receives grant for Geothermal energy development

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA Friday, March 24, 2017: The Board of Directors of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), at a recent meeting, approved a grant of USD$231,630.00, to the Government of Grenada, to build its capacity for planning and implementation of its Geothermal Energy Development Roadmap (GEDR).

The resources are from the Global Environment Facility, through the Inter-American Development Bank’s Sustainable Energy Facility, for the Eastern Caribbean with the CDB.

This technical assistance Project will provide the Government of Grenada with consultancy expertise for a period of 24 months.
Consultants will work with the Government’s staff, through the establishment and operation of a Geothermal Energy Project Management Unit (GPMU). 

Grenada records strong growth

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, March 23, 2017 – GIS: Grenada has been commended for its strong performance in the final phase of the homegrown structural adjustment programme.

Head of the IMF Mission to Grenada Ms. Nicole LaFramboise says government has continued steadfast implementation of reforms and made progress toward achieving the key programme goals of restoring fiscal sustainability, strengthening the financial sector and paving the way for growth in the economy.

Why Grenada’s National Debt is Falling

ST. GEORGE’S GRENADA, March 23, 2017 –GIS: A leading official of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has identified four areas responsible for the dramatic decline of Grenada’s national debt under the Keith Mitchell led government.

Nicole La Framboise, the head of the IMF mission on a recent trip to St.George’s says debt relief and restructuring, fiscal adjustment and strong GDP growth are the factors triggering a big fall in the public debt.
